As the glitzy lights of the Las Vegas strip welcomed attendees for the third consecutive year, I found myself once again immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the Wedding MBA conference. Having attended in 2019 and 2021, the 2023 edition promised not only to be a celebration of love but a testament to the growth, connections, and unforgettable experiences that this annual gathering brings.

Ever since the pandemic began, I found myself longing for a life on the open road—a dream that, truthfully, had taken root long before, as documented in my Comparing Richmond blog series back in 2013. When lockdowns confined us all to our homes for an indefinite stretch of time, that dream grew louder. I started researching RVs, envisioning a life untethered. But when financing options proved elusive, I stumbled upon something intriguing: Skoolies—school buses transformed into fully livable mobile homes.

This particular trip was all about embracing adventure without breaking the bank. If you caught my last post, you’ll know I used those flight credits to get to Puerto Rico for next to nothing. The next step was finding the right place to stay—and I stumbled upon a perfectly located hostel featuring a stunning rooftop with ocean views, spotless and cozy private rooms, and a welcoming community of travelers and staff alike.

The moment we stepped off the plane in Montego Bay, we were welcomed with a glass of champagne in the Sandals lounge—a luxurious start to our getaway. After a scenic 45-minute drive to the resort in Ocho Rios, we were greeted once again with champagne upon arrival. It was here that we met our incredible butlers, Patrick and Tevin—two gentlemen whose warmth and attention to detail elevated every moment of our stay. Words hardly do them justice.
