Meet Matthew Davey
Oh hey gang, I'm Matthew — The Bow Tied DJ™ for Completely Celebrated™ weddings and events.
I've been hosting parties since I was a teenager in Richmond, Virginia. Right out of high school, I started entertaining at local bars and college parties, quickly finding a niche with sorority formals and high-energy crowds. At the same time, I worked with a live event production company, developing technical expertise in sound, lighting, video, staging, and event design.
After several years immersed in both the performance and production sides of the industry, I entertained my first wedding in 2009 — and I was immediately hooked.
I loved helping couples create a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I loved the energy. I loved the responsibility of bringing people together. Most importantly, I loved knowing that the way an event feels can become one of the memories people carry with them for the rest of their lives.
In 2015, I launched Bow Tied Weddings, the predecessor to Completely Celebrated™. The following year, we were recognized as an A-List Finalist for Best Wedding DJ by Richmond Bride Magazine. Over the next several years, Bow Tied Weddings entertained an average of 60 weddings annually with a small team of associate DJs, earning WeddingWire Couples' Choice Awards year after year and accumulating more than 170 client reviews.
In 2020, I began shifting the company toward intentionally crafted, elevated celebrations focused on guest experience, thoughtful hosting, and packed dance floors. That evolution ultimately led to the launch of Completely Celebrated™, a luxury wedding and event entertainment company serving couples and organizations throughout Virginia, Atlanta, the Southeast, and destinations worldwide.
In 2026, Completely Celebrated™ was honored with the Diamond Award for Best Reception DJ by Modern Luxury Weddings Atlanta.
When I'm not entertaining weddings and events, you'll usually find me exploring with my wife Elizabeth (an incredible wedding photographer who you should definitely check out 😉), training for a half marathon, traveling with our two dogs, or cheering on the Atlanta Falcons. We're always up for a challenge, whether that's tackling an escape room, hiking a new trail, or finding the best coffee shop in a new city.
Why I Do What I Do
Great entertainment has very little to do with music.
The music matters, of course. But what people remember years later is how the celebration felt. They remember singing with friends, reconnecting with family, and sharing unforgettable moments with the people they love most.
That's why I believe my role extends far beyond being a DJ. My goal is to create an experience where guests feel welcomed, engaged, and excited to celebrate while couples remain fully present throughout the day.
Every event is different, but the mission is always the same: bring people together and create memories that last long after the final song.
