After a long and chaotic year, I finally took a much-needed escape to the southern tip of Baja California Sur, Mexico—and was immediately struck by how seriously pandemic precautions were being taken. From sanitation misting booths and temperature checks at every entrance to nearly universal mask-wearing, it was clear that safety was a priority. Aside from the flight in, I felt incredibly at ease—and yes, we tested negative upon return. Here’s how the trip unfolded.

By the end of February, we had nearly 70 weddings lined up across six states and were geared up for a year of growth. Then, like so many others, our plans were flipped upside down by COVID-19. But just before everything changed, we had the chance to celebrate an incredible wedding in Palatka, Florida on February 22nd, followed by the Wedding Pro Experience in Orlando on the 24th. Though both events took place right before the world shifted, the lessons and connections from that week have shaped how we do business in the new normal. Here's the story—and what it taught me.

This time around, I partnered with local breweries to raise funds and awareness for regional Food Banks, many affiliated with Feeding America. Each brewery donated a portion of proceeds from the event to their local food bank. The foundation for Bow Tied Brews was actually laid in 2018, when I first partnered with Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery to launch the Seersucker Shandy—a small-batch beer that supported Feed More, Richmond’s food bank.
