To the Keys and Back
There’s something about the open road that makes even the busiest seasons feel a little lighter. What began as a spontaneous escape from Atlanta turned into a weeklong, palm-fringed adventure full of sunrises, swaying hammocks, industry inspiration, and a touch of Disney magic. Here’s how we chased the coastline—all the way to paradise and back.
The Long Road to the Keys
The GPS said “10 hours,” but the Florida Keys always take a little longer than expected—and we’re not mad about it. With the windows down and the playlist on point, we took our time winding through South Florida, eventually landing in Key West just in time for sunset.
Rather than a luxe resort, this time we roughed it—well, glamped it—at a campground under the stars. Think tiki torches, sea breezes, and late-night laughter echoing between the palms. Key West may be known for Duval Street and rum runners, but waking up at a campground to the sound of waves? That was the real luxury.
Quick Pulse Check in Miami
Before heading north, we dipped into Miami for just enough time to recharge with a bit of city energy. A stroll through Wynwood, a cafecito on Calle Ocho, and a sunset view from South Beach—quick but iconic. Sometimes you don’t need days in a city to soak in its spirit.
Work Meets Wanderlust
Then it was time to shift gears—sort of. We rolled into Palm Beach Gardens for a wedding industry conference at the PGA National Resort, which was as inspiring as it was indulgent. Picture sleek ballroom spaces, rooftop cocktail hours, and conversations with creatives who are shaping luxury weddings around the globe.
Between speaker panels and networking sips, we also took notes on how venues can blend sophistication with play—something PGA National nails effortlessly.
A Day at Disney
Because no Florida road trip is complete without a little magic, we made a day trip to Disney World. Just one day, but we packed it in—rope drop to fireworks, and everything in between. For those wondering, yes: we did rise of the resistance yes: we got slightly misty during Happily Ever After, and no: we didn’t skip guardians of the galaxy.
It was the perfect reset before beginning our journey north.
Cruising the Coast
We hugged the Atlantic Coastline on our way back, taking in the sun-drenched seaside towns that dot the edge of Florida, Georgia. The real highlight? A breezy couple days in Savannah.
There’s just something about Savannah’s blend of charm and character that makes it an always-worthy stop. Cobblestone strolls, Spanish moss, and brunch on a rooftop overlooking the river—what more could you ask for?
Home Again: Atlanta Bound
As we returned to Atlanta, one thing was clear: spontaneity makes the best memories. From campground mornings in the Keys to industry nights in Palm Beach, this trip was a reminder that some of the best travel stories come from trusting your gut—and following the sun.
