The Tour (Part One)

Matthew B. Davey, professionally known as The Bow Tied DJ, is hitting the road for a purpose-driven adventure across the South and Midwest. The “Southern Gentleman Tour” will span 26 days and 16 cities, beginning on Sunday, July 7 in Richmond, Virginia, and culminating on Thursday, August 1 with a grand finale at Capital Ale House Music Hall.

The tour’s mission? To raise awareness and funds for local Habitat for Humanity affiliates, while exploring the role of ABC laws and tourism in shaping vibrant communities. Davey will be documenting the journey with regular updates shared on Richmond.com.

“I’m incredibly excited for the opportunity to give back and learn from these cities,” says Davey. “Working with Habitat has been such a joy, and their mission to build stronger communities aligns perfectly with my own goals for Richmond and beyond.”

Davey has long supported Richmond Metropolitan Habitat for Humanity, having previously lent his time and talents to events such as Chicks with Bricks at Legend Brewery and the dedication of the Pillars at Oakmont.

“We are so grateful to Matthew for his continued support,” says Nancy Melton, Vice President of Development and Marketing at Richmond Habitat. “His ability to merge entertainment with meaningful impact is truly inspiring.”

In addition to DJ performances, the tour will serve as a research opportunity as Davey studies local open-container laws, tourism strategies, and neighborhood revitalization models—bringing those insights back to Richmond.
