WIPA Richmond Launches
Building a Community for Virginia Wedding Professionals
Something exciting is happening in Virginia’s wedding industry.
After months of planning and the collective efforts of a passionate group of professionals, WIPA Richmond has officially launched as the 26th chapter of the Wedding Industry Professionals Association (WIPA).
While headquartered in Richmond, the chapter’s mission reaches far beyond one city. WIPA Richmond was created with the goal of connecting wedding professionals across the Commonwealth of Virginia, bringing together creatives and industry leaders from Hampton Roads, Charlottesville, Northern Virginia, Richmond, and beyond.
The launch of this chapter represents an exciting step forward for the state’s wedding industry — creating new opportunities for education, collaboration, and professional growth.
A Growing Need for Community
Virginia is home to one of the country’s most vibrant and diverse wedding markets. From historic estates and coastal venues to vineyards and mountain retreats, the Commonwealth offers a wide range of destinations for couples and wedding professionals alike.
Yet many professionals across the state have long expressed a desire for stronger opportunities to connect with peers, exchange ideas, and build meaningful professional relationships beyond their immediate markets.
WIPA Richmond was formed to help fill that gap.
The Wedding Industry Professionals Association is an international organization dedicated to advancing the wedding industry through education, collaboration, and ethical business practices. Its chapters serve as hubs where professionals can gather, learn from one another, and strengthen the communities they serve.
By launching a chapter in Virginia, WIPA Richmond aims to create a space where professionals from across the state can come together to share knowledge, spark creativity, and support one another’s success.
Building the Foundation
The creation of WIPA Richmond was made possible through the dedication of a Formation Team made up of wedding professionals from across Virginia.
This group volunteered their time and expertise to help establish the chapter and bring the vision of a statewide professional community to life.

Each member of the team brought unique industry perspectives and a shared commitment to strengthening Virginia’s wedding community.
Through collaboration and collective effort, the Formation Team helped lay the groundwork for what will become a growing network of professionals dedicated to excellence in the wedding industry.
A Chapter for the Entire Commonwealth
Although Richmond serves as the chapter’s home base, WIPA Richmond was intentionally designed to serve a much broader audience.
Virginia’s wedding industry is geographically diverse, with thriving communities of professionals working in multiple regions throughout the state. Recognizing this diversity, the chapter’s vision is centered on inclusivity and statewide connection.
WIPA Richmond welcomes wedding professionals from all regions, including:

Our First Event: The Town Hall
With the chapter officially launched, the next step is bringing the community together in person.
The first official WIPA Richmond event will be our Town Hall, scheduled for April 14th.
This event will introduce the chapter to the broader community, share the vision for the future, and invite wedding professionals from across Virginia to become part of what we are building.
It will be an opportunity to meet fellow professionals, learn more about WIPA, and connect with others who are passionate about raising the standard of our industry.
Because while the Formation Team helped bring the chapter to life, the future of WIPA Richmond will be shaped by the entire community.
