Bow Tied Brews: 2020

After celebrating our first wedding since shutdown in March, we hit the road for our second annual Bow Tied Brews tour, which had it’s first stop in Charleston, West Virginia. And yes, Franklin was along for the ride.

So the first stop on Bow Tied Brews benefitted the Mountaineer Food Bank and was at Bad Shepherd Beer Company. Unfortunately, due to West Virginia regulations, we weren’t even allowed to setup a sound system at the first stop, but it did give us the opportunity to do a Facebook Live, which we decided would be great for every event. See our Facebook page to check out all 12 Facebook Live videos.

Our next two stops were Charlottesville and Charlotte, both having outdoor patio-like events under a tent. We were back again at Champion Brewing in Charlottesville raising money for Blue Ridge Area Food Bank and Catawba Brewing in Charlotte raising money for the Second Harvest of Metrolina. At Catawba, a funny thing happened, I got my hair cut. See our Instagram Highlights for that awesomeness.

Next stops on Bow Tied Brews were Columbia and Atlanta. These two also had an outdoor aspect, both having Food Trucks of sorts involved. At Columbia Craft Brewing Company, we raised money for Harvest Hope Food Bank with Uncle Fester’s Food Truck on site. At Atlanta Brewing Company, we raised money for Atlanta Community Food Bank with food cooked up by Chico Loco, which was delicious. Oh and our friends at Cakeology dropped off some tasty treats for us to share.

Our journey continued to Florida, with stops in Tallahassee and Jacksonville. Both events exhibited a curbside pickup style. We had first time events with our new friends in Tallahassee at Ology Brewing raising money for Second Harvest of the Big Bend, and our new friends at Fishweir Brewing, who also had The Hungry Owl food truck on site, while we raised money for Feeding Northeast Florida. The Curbside Pickup concepts were both interesting and fun, with us playing music outside their front door for would be patrons coming for beer-to-go.

Whipping ‘cross the border, Florida into Georgia. Our next stop on the magical mystery tour brought us to Savannah. We were once again visiting our friends at Southbound Brewing, who had arranged for Bow Tie Barbecue to be on site with their food truck. Unfortunately, it rained quite a bit and we had a low turn out, but mad props to Southbound for doing an amazing job pushing the event and facilitating a food truck that matched the brand of the event.

Heading north on Highway 17, our next stop was Charleston, South Carolina. We loved seeing Palmetto Brewing’s newly renovated taproom and raising money for our friends at Lowcountry Food Bank. Always good times with the folks at Palmetto and LCFB.

Continuing with our journey on 17, we made port in Wilmington, North Carolina for one of two events for our friends at the Food Bank of Central and Eastern North Carolina. Waterman’s Brewing had some tasty brews and an exciting crowd on their patio. The second event for FB of CENC was in Raleigh with our friends at Crank Arm Brewing, who has a partner connection to Waterman’s. We had a great time at both places raising money for FB of CENC.

Heading back to Richmond for our final stop we had some to reflect on the journey. For the most part, we stopped in at a few Love’s Travel Stops for gas and laid our heads at a few Aloft Hotels. Hopefully next year they can contribute to the cause by being a sponsor. Wink wink.

Our final stop, and for it’s third year event releasing the Seersucker Shandy, we joined our good friends at Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery who had Firesides on site with their food truck while we had a splendid day on their farm raising money for Feed More. We couldn’t have asked for a better finale event, for an exciting trip, all for a noble cause. Stay tuned to our social media pages as we announce how much money was raised. And to those of you who already follow our social media pages, thanks a bunch!

After Bow Tied Brews, we had another COVID Wedding in the Charlottesville area, this time with our friends at Early Mountain Vineyards. We had another socially distant ceremony, cocktail hour in the tasting room, and a very fun dance party, yet again. We are confident that, while guest lists may be cut, we are still going to have plenty of exciting dance parties ahead of us. Can’t wait, see you soon!
