Non-alcoholic options for your Wedding

As I personally celebrate one year of sobriety today, for my own reasons, I’ve had many couples ask me about options they can provide their guests who are also sober, or are athletes in training, or are pregnant women. So, here’s an aide to those they wish to provide these options to their guests.

With so many people choosing to abstain from alcohol since the pandemic, non-alcoholic options have vastly increased. Many restaurants have added a variety of non-alcoholic options including fixed mocktail menus, a number of non-alcoholic beers, even alcohol-removed wine, but slow to the trend are events that include an open bar. Here’s a short list of favorites that will be sure to wow your sober guests outside soda and juices.

Athletic Brewing. This is hands down the best non-alcoholic beer option and a must for your open bar. They are a brewery that focuses solely on crafting amazing beers with less than 0.5% alcohol. Their year-round brews Upside Dawn, Run Wild, and Free Wave can easily be found at a grocery store in the beer aisle. They also have amazing seasonals like Oktoberfest and All Out. Every beer by Athletic is easy to enjoy, great for an active dance party, and will be a much appreciated option by your sober beer drinkers.

Fre Wine. For those that like to sip wine, this is an easy go-to and can also be found at a grocery stores like Kroger and Publix. At $8 to $12 a bottle, they are an economical choice for your open bar. With everything from Cabernet Sauvignon to Rose, their alcohol-removed wines will certainly be a great option for cocktail hour, dinner, and dancing.

Curious Elixers. I was actually introduced to these booze-free cocktails at a wedding. They make award winning craft cocktails without the booze, are gluten and caffeine free, made with organic ingredients, and no preservatives or artificial flavors. These booze free cocktails will definitely be a hit with your sober bunch.

Ritual Spirits. If you want to kick it up a notch at your open bar, Ritual has a line of non-alcoholic spirits that are wildly popular. With alternative Rum, Gin, Tequila, and Whisky options, at just $30 a bottle, they can be found at stores like Kroger and Total Wine. If you have a large number of guests enjoying sobriety, this is an option to provide.

Being sober is a commitment that many take for many reasons. These options have certainly made it easier to keep the commitment. If you plan to invite folks to your wedding, who you know have made such a commitment, please consider offering at least one of these options.
